Dear Sir or Miss,
You have been cordially invited to dinner at Hill House Mansion.
Following dinner will be a small party, and an evening spent in the manor.
It would be to your advantage to be present on this date
because a Mr. Boddy will bring to an end a certain long-standing
confidential and painful financial liability.
Attached is a letter stating what your alias will be for the night.
Please do not disclose your true identity throughout your stay.
-A friend

<center>You have received a mysterious letter asking you to come
to dinner at a place you've never been before.
You don't know who this Mr. Boddy is, but if it's true that
he will put to end the blackmail you've been put up against
all of these years, you feel it's better to go
despite your reservations.
Once you arrive, you meet a number of other guests,
claiming to have received the same eerie letter.
Mr. Boddy himself is nowhere to be seen.
After dinner, you and the other guests have been
invited into the lounge for a small party of sorts.
Here is where we meet the mysterious Mr. Boddy
for the first time this evening. It is also here that
the nature of this call is revealed.
The butler and the maid have both been conspiring
against Mr. Boddy, as they, too, are victims of his
blackmail. The two of them have gathered all the evidence,
both written documents and recorded confessions, of Mr. Boddy's
blackmail. With your consent, they plan on turning
Mr. Boddy in to the police.
This news doesn't bother your host as much as it should.
Instead he procures a mysterious briefcase and opens it to
reveal an assortment of deadly weapons. One is given to each
of you as you look at each other bemusedly.
Mr. Boddy gives the instruction to kill his servants, with the
promise of letting you each escape from his blackmail if you
do so.
Silence is drawn and nothing happens. Mr. Boddy leaves the room
and retires to a different area of the manor. Maid and butler
exchange anxious glances as they offer to escort each guest to their bedroom
before returning to the servant's chamber for the night.
However, one of you did not let your offered weapon go to waste.
Stealing through the night, one house guest encountered Mr. Boddy and
killed him before the breaking dawn.
You're all awoken the next morning by a piercing scream as the
maid enters the master's chamber to awaken your odd host.
There, Mr. Boddy has been dragged and placed upon his bed, soaked with blood,
but seemingly unblemished. No clues can be seen as to how it happened,
but Mr. Boddy is clearly dead.
The question is; who did it? where? and with what?
It's up to you to find out before the police do,
otherwise all of you will be locked up for murder.

It's marbled floor and white walls call for little decoration on the side.

A cheery fireplace burns on one of the inner walls.
A hidden panel in the closet reveals a secret passage to the conservatory.
Dining Room
An elegant room furnished with dark woods.
A large glass chandelier is suspended over a long table,
and a bar rests on one side of the room.
Kitchen
A simple tiled floor makes for easy cleanup.
In the pantry, a hidden passage connects the kitchen to the study.
Ballroom
In the corner sits a lovely grand piano.
Wooden flooring and heavy drapery give the room an ornate feel to it.
Conservatory
The Greenhouse of Hill House Mansion.
Hidden in one of the store cupboards is a passage to the lounge.
Billiard Room
A great, wooden pool table sits in the center of this handsome room.
Dark woods cover both floor and walls for a Gentleman's Club feel.
Library
This room is covered from floor to ceiling in tall bookshelves
filled with texts and novels. A large table in the center serves
as a desk, and a window-seat provides a reading area.
Study
Floored in rich carpet, the study is a warm, inviting room.
A squashy armchair sits near a floor lamp, a long desk lays near the wall,
and a large fireplace warms the room.

<center>Revolver
A six-shot revolver.
(1+2+1+1...)
Rope
Eight feet of rope, neatly tied in
a ready-to-go noose
Knife
A shiny dagger and scabbard combination.
Sharpened to a fine point.
Candlestick
Used as a decorative means to hold candles.
Also used as an object to bludgeon people with.
Lead Pipe
What this was once part of, one can only guess.
Use it to bash someone's skull, or attempt to poison
them if you wish to take the time.
Wrench
Normally used to tighten or loosen bolts.
Still makes for a handy killing tool.

<center>Feel free to reserve spots,
though I doubt that would matter too much,
as people can name themselves whatever they want...
You may also have more than one character,
so long as it won't effect the quality of your posts
{note}
Since I won't be able to fairly play a guest character,
I'm flirting with the idea of playing all three support characters.
Mr. Boddy is a given, and I do want to play the maid.
So unless someone really wants the butler spot,
I'll probably snag it for myself.

Name: Mr. Blake Boddy
Age: 45
Occupation: Defense Attorney
Blackmail: Has been blackmailing others
Weapon: None
Appearance:
Mr. Boddy has a somewhat grisled appearance of a man who clearly has seen better days. Slight wrinkles on his face betray his age on what would be an otherwise youthful face. He has a tendency to forget to shave, and thusly scruffy bits of stubble will roughen up the aged skin. Dark brown hair is peppered with grey, giving a distinguised look to our devious lawyer. Striking, pale blue eyes are constantly squinting through a perpetually furrowed brow. Mr. Boddy has little taste for dressing down, and can usually be seen in a black suit and smart tie.
Personality:
Renowned defense attorney Blake Boddy shows quite the dualist personality. On one hand, you have the even-tempered, yet fierce attorney that strives to make sure his client is proven innocent. On the other, you have a malicious blackmailer intent on depriving his victims of every penny they have. Whichever face you deal with, however, you'll still be seeing a level-headed man who isn't to be trifled with. |

Name: Lady Marmalade
Age: 30
Occupation: Senator of Massachusetts
Blackmail: Is secretly a gay transvestite.
Weapon:
Appearance: Lady Marmalade is tall at 5' 10" and slender with light tan skin. She is of Asian origins. Her hair is platinum blonde, flowing and lightweight. It reaches her waist and is layered, brushing some fringe across her forehead and cheeks. Her eyes are a warm shade of green, akin to a pear. She likes to dress beautifully, wearing traditional Asian clothes such as kimonos and yukatas in her leisure. She wears only slight hints of make-up. One could not tell she was a man without great, invasive survey.
Personality: Marmalade is very warm and a bit of a flirt. She seems to receive everyone with a polite and cheerful air, and is fairly gracious. However, she is not a pushover. She is ready to defend herself and others, and stays strong to her convictions. Behind her sweetness is a humor-loving side which only shows itself in rare moments or inebriation. She strives to be positive. |

A Sample, using the film's version of Professor Plum
| Professor Plum wrote: | Username: Christopher Lloyd
Name: Professor Plum
Age: 37 (I'm guessing. It never actually says)
Occupation: Psychiatrist for W.H.O.
Blackmail: Committed adultery with female patients from former practice
Weapon: The Revolver
Appearance:
Dressed in a crisp, black suit, Professor Plum makes quite a stately appearance. He stands at a towering 6'1",
making for an easy cover for looking down a lady's blouse. The professor has dark brown hair, softly fluffing
over his skull, and his chocolate brown eyes are covered by rimless glasses.
Occasionally you may see the Prof. puffing on a pretty pipe,
but if you ask the doctor why he's smoking if he knows it's harmful to his health,
he'll simply tell you that his degree is in psychology and not internal medicine.
Personality:
This doctor may be skilled enough to work for the W.H.O., but that doesn't mean you'd want him to be your
practitioner. Shown to be quite the womanizer, this man is prone to copping a feel and directing his gaze
at some more private areas of the female form. He seems a bit frenzied and slow on
the uptake at first glace, but he must have gotten his license somehow.
Do note: He's not the best party guest.
He has been known to set a whole room staring while he slurps away at his soup. |
